How to Select 10–35kV Cable Termination Kits

Quick answer: A termination kit must match the full cable construction and the equipment interface. Voltage class and conductor cross-section are necessary but not sufficient.

Information required before selection

Use the manufacturer’s cable datasheet or a measured cable construction sheet.

  • Rated voltage expressed as U0/U (Um)
  • Single-core or three-core construction
  • Copper or aluminium conductor and conductor class
  • Cross-section and conductor diameter
  • XLPE/EPR insulation diameter and screen construction
  • Armour, sheath material and overall diameter
  • Indoor/outdoor/switchgear/transformer interface and available space

Project-based example

For a 36(42)kV accessory package, the same conductor size required separate confirmation for single-core outdoor terminations and straight-through joints. Core construction and installation position were treated as independent selection fields.
