Substation Grounding RFQ Guide

Short answer: substation grounding RFQs should define soil condition, fault current, grounding conductor size, ground rod material, connection method, corrosion risk and required standard.

Application selection table

Ground grid conductor Use copper, copper bonded steel, galvanized steel or tinned copper according to fault current, soil and project design.
Ground rods Confirm copper bonded, solid copper, galvanized or stainless rods by soil corrosion and service life requirement.
Connections Use exothermic welding for permanent high-reliability joints or mechanical clamps where inspection and replacement are required.
Accessories Include inspection pits, earth bars, bonding jumpers, clamps, couplers and test points when needed.

RFQ parameters

Common wrong selection

Substation grounding should not be quoted from product names only. Fault current, soil and connection method control the material list.
