Grounding Rod Size and Material Guide

Short answer: grounding rods should be selected by soil resistivity, corrosion risk, rod diameter, rod length, coating thickness, connection method and project grounding standard.

Selection table

Copper bonded rod Common for grounding systems that need corrosion resistance and cost control. Confirm copper layer thickness.
Solid copper rod Used in highly corrosive soil or projects requiring full copper material.
Galvanized steel rod Cost-effective for general grounding where corrosion risk is controlled.
Connection Use clamps, couplers, driving heads or exothermic welding according to installation method.

RFQ parameters

Common wrong selection

Do not select grounding rods only by diameter. Material, coating thickness and soil corrosion risk are equally important.
