Short answer: cable terminations should be selected by voltage class, indoor or outdoor location, cable core count, conductor size, insulation diameter, pollution level and required standard.

Do not replace an outdoor termination with an indoor termination only because the cable size matches. Environmental rating and creepage distance must also match.
